On April 24th, the Military Affairs Committee which is part of the Fort Walton Beach Chamber of Commerce hosted an Airman’s Appreciation BBQ at Eglin AFB. This is a yearly event sponsored by the MAC to show the community’s appreciation to these brave young men and women who serve our country and protect the freedom of each and every one of us. All airmen were invited to enjoy a catered BBQ lunch, games and prizes as well as music by the local country music radio station,105.5 The Wolf, who came out also to help. About 85 airmen attended the event. Michelle Rasbeck and Brigette Gander from CMI volunteered to help with this
event. We set up corn hole and horse shoes as well as tables, chairs and unloaded the delicious lunch. Games were played and free raffle tickets given to each airman for awesome prizes donated not only by CMI but by the community. We interacted with young airmen from all over the country-some fresh from tech school with Eglin being their first base assignment- to other seasoned airmen. We spoke to many of airmen thanking them for their service and listening to the stories they shared of military life.
