Today Certified Manufacturing hosted a student tour from J.H. Workman Middle School Aerospace Department located in Pensacola in celebration of Manufacturing Month. The Northwest Florida Manufacturers Council has implemented a Student Tour program designed to expand knowledge of manufacturing and improve public perception of manufacturing career opportunities. 24 students accompanied teacher, Pamela Ridings, on the trip. The students were broke into 2 smaller groups led respectfully by Michelle Rasbeck, Director of Administration/Contracts, and Nettie Davenport,
Manufacturing Engineer/ Trainer. Students were able to crimp wire and complete pull testing which is one of the first skills an employee utilizes as well as utilize an eye loop and microscope to inspect their work. Groups visited with each department from Wire Ident, Production, Test & Engineering, Quality, Inventory & Shipping/Receiving as well as sales. Students were very interested in Marvin Rhodes, retired USAF and Level II Quality Inspector describing how his military career closely correlated with his work at Certified Manufacturing and how quality is the last defense of the company.
